probably don't need 4gb unless your using 64 bit vista...which i don't think home premium is...but i may be wrong.
the 8600gts will probably not do it for high end gaming. look into the 8800gts. that is in between the 8600 and the 8800gtx which dell is quoting you. maybe you can buy without video card and add your own?
8800gts comes in 320mb and 640mb versions.
