The Eagles are notorious for doing this. They did this when they released Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent, with Sheldon Brown and Lito Sheppard waiting in the wings. They also released Duce Staley when they thought Westbrook was ready to be the feature back. On both occassions the FO hit a home run.

Right, they have definitely done this in the past. But is it necessary this time around? Their cap situation is healthy, and while Trott's knee's are showing worse for wear, he's still a main cog in that defense. I was quite shocked at the news today.
