The video card is definitely the weakest link, but overall it has good specs. And yes, it should play most of todays game pretty well. I'd save up for a video card, but outside of that you have a solid system.
The HDD is a bit strange. There are 320GB drives but I've never seen a 640. It would be nice to know more about it, but it is 7200RPM so it should be fine.
