I for one hope McDavid signs in Edmonton long term and finishes his career with the Oilers. McDavid is the most overrated player this generation without a doubt. He's a very selfish, flawed player who is unable to perform and deliver in key games that matter for championships. Continuously blaming his teammates or coaches since he won't be accountable for his own poor performance in aspects of his game other than offense.
Connor McDavid is +8 having 116 pts, that is almost impossible to achieve. Plus/minus is not a perfect stat and is often referred to as a team stat, but it is indicative of individual player performance when you play close to 25 mins per game on average. Being he is elite offensively; he only marginally is able to cover his lack of performance in the defensive side of the game.
This player has burned through some pretty elite head coaches with strong NHL credentials. He is clearly not a coachable player and just decides that the coaches message does not apply to him. He's a poor leader, poor example, clearly focused on nothing else other than personal stats and achievements. You simply never win with these players, and I completely expect that McDavid won't lift a Cup in his career unless it is as a passenger player in the twilight of his career.
