Companies lie N-Vidia or ATI (well, now AMD) only produce a few early lines of cards. After that they sell the chips and chipsets to other companies like eVGA, MSI, Sapphire, Asus, etc who will build and sell 90% of the video cards.
Edit: eVGA is known for their Limited Lifetime Warranty on their retail parts.
