I'd be willing to help you select components to have built into a system by Memory Express.
Just a few questions:
1) What size monitor are you planning using with this?
2) What games do you like to play? Lots of FPS or more real time strategy, or MMOs?
To start I would suggest:
Intel Q6600 (Quad Core)
2 Gigs of RAM (Brand not so important but Kingston is reliable name)
Seagate SATA Hard Drive (best warranty)
Motherboard Asus P5K-SE
Nvidia 8800 GTS 640mb Video card (or if you're rich get the 8800 GTX)
DVD Burner (Doesn't matter)
Choose any case you like (better to get one without a power supply)
Corsair or Enermax Power Supply (500w+)
