McDavid has been coached by Cooper now for two tournaments. Nevermind Cooper is the gold standard for coaching in the league, 14 years in Tampa.
I don’t doubt that McDavid is envious of having a proper organization based on stability. The amount of off ice internal instability he’s endured since his time in Edmonton is more then we know, with Lowe giving different players different sets of rules to try and mimic the 80s Oilers, and that applied to how coaches could coach, and thus coaches and GMs undermined as a result and how that affects development of young players and has veterans avoid that clown show for better part of 30 years now.
Again, McDavid is gone this summer or next. Something he and the Oilers have been planning for a while. But McDavid seeing how the other half lives with a guy like Cooper has accelerated his desire to have a chance at that normalcy and stability he has not had in his pro career.
