The "pillow fight" quote was great, but nowhere near as important as McDavid telling reporters to go ask Knoblauch what the Oilers need to do to be as well-coached and organized as the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Mark Spector (@SportsnetSpec)
He did not say that, Jon. Nothing close.
Jonathan Willis (@JonathanWillis)
He raved about how well-coached and rehearsed and organized the Tampa Bay Lightning were. Then when he was asked what the Oilers had to do to get to that level he said it was a coaching question and to go ask Knoblauch.
That's pretty plain, no?
Mark Spector (@SportsnetSpec)
Not saying there was no innuendo, or disputing his quotes. He did not tell the media to confront Knoblauch the way you stated. I was there. It wasn’t like that.
Jonathan Willis (@JonathanWillis)
I didn't say confront; I said ask. And yes, it's material that it was in response to a question rather than being unprompted.
But I'm less worried about tone than message. And it's especially notable because it's not the first time an Oilers star has delivered that message.

Spector is so sensitive. Why so pissy Mark?
