Like what is the expected outcome here? Iran obviously cannot defend well against both Israel and US, but it can still cause extreme damage to all surrounding areas as well as control the straight of Hormuz. They have gone tit for tat and will continue to have the ability to do so for quite a long time.

I think Iran's defense strategy was always to make anything against them into a wider conflict. Knowing that Iran would go off like a cluster bomb in the region was supposed to be the deterence to ever attacking them. I think knowing that is the main thing holding back other countries in the region from larger scale retaliation. If you do and the world goes even further into hell, it justifies their strategy.
