It's not ignored at all. In fact, water is one of the biggest weaponized aspects of this war and its impacts has been talked about extensively (and that Iran itself can go scorched earth against the rest of the middle east and render it largely unhabitable). So far for the most part desalination plants have been mostly spared, but that can change on a dime.

But now with this conflict, the Iranian regime can shift the blame of its water problem to the US / Israel.
