Maybe this should have its own thread but I’m wondering if there are any free agents that the flames should consider in the offseason? I’m of the opinion that the team should not be looking to sign any players that make them a better team in terms of wins next season because I think at least one more year of drafting high would be the best thing for the team long-term.
The only players I would consider bringing in are ones that are physical and have a bit of that crazy mentality to throw a game into chaos if the other team starts taking runs at the young players the flames have in the lineup. We just saw with the Gudas incident how important team character can be… I’d like the flames to maintain a physical brand of hockey while also introducing young, skilled players into the lineup. The team will lose lots of games but I would like opponents to hate to play against the flames even during the rebuild.
Not sure who fits for that type of hockey and is available in free agency but that’s pretty much the only style of player I would look for the flames to bring in - I’m assuming the flames don’t have any players of that type on the wranglers but I might be wrong.
