From your past posting history it sounds like this is high level hockey - (one) of the jobs at that level for a coach is to win.
If this is a coach that will be coaching him next year - your kid should sit down with the coach and express his disappointment with not playing more and ask what he needs to do in the offseason to get more playing time.

He's actually pretty good, hard ass but has favorites. It's quite obvious. It is no big deal. I just needed to yell at clouds.
My kid is doing good. He is the glue guy on the team. He has a way better mindset than I have. He pumps up his teammates. He is the best..
Ya, it's higher level, coach takes a salary.
