Don’t get me wrong, I love draft picks and have faith the Flames will draft well, but at the end of the day, late firsts and 2nd rounders have low likelihood of being impact players. I assumed, based on the Nelson trade last year, or the proposed Pareyko trade, that we should have been able to pry a blue chipper loose somewhere!
Quantity will lead to a team of 3rd liners…I want first liners.

The team to speak was built by Treliving whose not having great success in Toronto and lurched us so to speak.
All these talented pieces we've traded away don't fit with the new version of our team and where we need to go. So to recoup and clear the deck and build through the draft is refreshing.
Please remember these players also don't want to toil out through a rebuild and often change their long agreements to complete for a cup or make a difference.
