I can't take the NHL seriously with this playoff format. It rewards teams in mediocre divisions. The Oilers are at best a middle of the pack team, but McDrai will put them ahead of the rest of the Pacific. By the time the conference finals rolls around they'll play a beaten up Avs or Wild, and the Oilers will be fresh as a daisy. I know many on here will doubt it, but look at how the last two years played out. I don't see how anything will change this season. It sucks!

This isn't even remotely true. The Oilers have a better chance of missing the playoffs than making the 3rd round. Their next 4 games are Carolina, Vegas, Colorado, Dallas. Easy 1-3 if they're lucky. At that point they're on the outside looking in, seeing as they are holding on to a playoff spot by 4 points and all teams chasing them have games in hand.
There is 8 teams (6 Pacific, 2 Cental) fighting for 5 spots, 3 Pacific spots and 2 WC. Oilers are far from a lock to even make playoffs, let alone make noise if they get there.
