Which makes me feel that this is a VAR problem, and not an offside problem. "Old school", human-called offside is naturally a little fuzzy anyway. Sometimes it benefits the defender, sometimes the attacker. Sometimes it is spot on, and other times it is blatantly wrong.
The daylight offside rule is a response to VAR and pixel counting, but I feel that it misses the mark as we'll still end up counting pixels - just now it will be a toe past the daylight zone vs. a toe past the defender.
And for the CPL, a non-VAR league, it will just create confusion and frustration. So we have a non-VAR league testing a new offside rule that was brought about because of frustrations with VAR.
I guess we'll see how it plays out, and it is the same rules for all teams, etc. so it is fine. And might bring some international attention to the CPL - hopefully positive!
