Being a dynamic skater might be more important than ever.
Schaefer is already a 99th percentile skater in terms of Bursts, Max Speed, and distance covered.
His ability to get up ice quickly and cover a ton of ice is really helping him succeed.
It's where Parekh needs to improve.
Right now he's below 50th percentile in pretty much all ways speed wise (max speed, speed bursts) but is pretty good in terms of how much ice he covers.
To be able to play his game at this level though he really needs to improve that pace.
Hughes, Makar, Hutson...they are all 90th percentile or better in skating speed.
For Parekh to have success he needs to improve his skating speed. You can't defend in the NHL effectively if you're small and also below 50th percentile in skating speed.
