Here's where I would land on this, I've we can pull some oceans 11 Italian job thing, it's a great idea.
I don't think Mang does much to make this team better or worse next year. I think there is an outside chance replacing Coleman at Backlunds side he could be seen a rebounding over the next year.
Step #1, seemingly the Oilers have a plan for the $2M in capsapce they are looking for, find out what that plan is, I assume picking up a $2M player they are shopping something in the range of a failed prospect and a 2nd.
Step #2, quietly scoop that deal from the Oilers, I'm ok giving up a 2nd to make this plan work. I don't really care who they are chasing, sell off Kadri + Pachal to Colorado, Whitecloud to Ottawa, Coleman to Dallas, Lombo to Buffalo. Lots of space for 1 more warm body.
Step #3, wait until deadline day at the 11th hour announce the Oilers deal Mang + 1st for Futures
Step #4, while on the trade call and Edmonton is distracted announce the other deal.
Step #5, trade expiring and resurgent Mang for a 2nd next year.
