I know this one has already been answered, but I could list about 50 of these after growing up in the Maritimes and spending my weekend evenings listening to bands performing at Irish pubs. :P
One band used to say that there are three major themes to Irish music, often used in conjunction with each other: dead people, sinking ships, and drinking.
