You brought up Europe, many lessons to be learned there. Read up. Isolationism isn't what created the EU.

I'm not an isolationist. Far from it. Like ya, free trade, movement of goods, defense, monetary policy, ect. Those are all things that can and should be agreed upon amongst neighboring countries.
You do not need to give up control of your own decision making and tax system to achieve those goals.
