I just heard the other day on a radio program that there well over 10,000 sports clubs in Norway.
In the Calgary games of 88, both Canada and Norway finished with 5 medals each iirc.
Norway then decided to do what they did and the rest is history. It was also mentioned that it took decades to see the results but health care costs really started to fall because the population was doing healthy things at the community level.

I would also imagine that if the roles of hockey and cross country skiing were reversed here like they are there we would probably have like 8 more medals.
But ill take 1 Hockey Gold over 8 cross country skiing golds any day
