If the Flames trade Kadri this season, I would bring Ruzicka in on a 2-year deal. He did something stupid (and real stupid by definition). With Kadri traded, then the Flames either move Zary to center (which I am a fan of, and would like to see Zary get a LONG look down the middle), or they bring another middle 6 center in.
Next season:
Huberdeau (if back) - Frost - Gridin
Farabee - Backlund - Coronato
Honzek - Ruzicka - Pospisil
Yes, I am stretching slightly here to make an all-Slovak line. Still, however, you want to put the pieces together, the Flames are either making Zary a center or they are bringing in a center. Ruzicka would be a free add. If he works, then it is simply recouping the already spent pick + development time the Flames had with him previously. I think he would only be a placeholder anyway long-term. The main issue with Ruzicka (aside from the glaring one), was his inconsistent effort level. Maybe he has realized what it takes to get to the NHL? Maybe Pospisil can be in his ear?
As long as his demons are not an issue moving forward, and there is a roster spot that needs filling, then I would 100% sign him - very little downside.
