The major problem with Epstein is that he was so connected in the highest of social circles, and he was very much involved in fundraising a the highest levels.
He was also a massive liar with a major ego complex. It's hard to say whether he had actually blackmailed anyone or this was part of some fantasy of his, where he become some master manipulator.
With the Gates emails, they aren't even emails to Gates, but look like an attempt to force Gates into not ending a financial relationship, that Epstein never went through with. This emails were just drafts.
I don't feel sorry for anyone who has issues for just associating with Epstein, at least not anyone who associated with him post convictions in 2009. It's really a case of catching fleas from lying with dogs. Except the dog is pedophile.
