IMO, that is the spot where Bedard would have been the better choice - he would be deadly as MacKinnon's winger.
It may turn out that Suzuki is needed, and a role is required for him. But having him as MacKinnon's winger is a poor decision, IMO

Agreed on both counts. There are a lot of guys who could have worked well there who weren't selected - Robert Thomas is basically made in a lab to play that role. Horvat should be on one of MacKinnon's wings as another north-south type of player who can give you a burst of speed when there's open space.
As for Suzuki, he's perfectly suited to a bottom 6 center role. You play him with Marchand, Jarvis, Bennett, Hagel, Stone, there are lots of combos that work there.
