The rules don't expressly forbid touching the granite, but it's clear enough that you're supposed to deliver from the handle. Grazing the granite unintentionally on release before the hog line would be one thing, but this seems to be a double whammy of intentional touch on the hog line. If it didn't matter he wouldn't have done it.
It would be embarrassing for curling if touching the rock beyond the hog line is a self-policed grey area thing. If that's the case they need to fix it now.
I want a Zapruder film on every questionable release from the match, but this link shows 2 examples that look fairly clear, so Kennedy's reaction is pretty embarrassing IMO. |
It is actually against the rules to touch the granite while making a delivery.
