The difference between guns and knives and cars and chain saws and hammers is that for the vast majority of people their lives would not be in anyway affected if they never owned or saw a gun ever again, if the Government could magically take away every gun in Canada outside of the far north and it's polar bears no one would notice any difference at the functioning of society at all, Japan has a near total ban on gun ownership and yet carries on as a modern society without problem, we need knives and cars and hammers, no one needs a gun
