Edit. Unless the gun was previously a restricted firearm, in which case they do know that you own it and you would have had to have a restricted pal to be able to legally possess it prior to it becoming prohibited.

I did some more research. The Government website is useless, a search of all the newly prohibited firearms does not provide a match to what I have. Doing some more digging and I think it's not the gun itself that is prohibited, it is potentially the magazine - and that is only if I have one that exceeds the new rules for capacity. Of course the firearms centre cannot tell you if what you have is prohibited (makes no sense to me that they could not know). Mine does not exceed the capacity so if I understand correctly I am okay. ???
