I shouldn't have said keeping the ammo and firearm separate was a challenge (duh), more so that having them in locked containers/rooms that are truly impenetrable isn't realistic if someone really really wants to get in. Hence the danger of having them in the first place.
Handguns are a pain in the ass in general to have, keep compliant and acquire in general. I went into both courses not knowing much at all about the rules and regulations, and came out of thinking that handguns are off the table if I ever wanted to get a firearm. Much more of a pain in the ass than an unrestricted firearm.
