Boston's offer sounded a little better (younger defender; a better prospect; the draft picks are a bit of a wash as the conditional 2nd is really for devaluing Vegas' 2026 first rounder), but it's not a ton better for the extension.
It seems like the strength of Vegas' offer compared to what the Flames would have gotten from Boston made Conroy pull the trigger quickly when Andersson's camp said no more extension talk.
If it weren't as good as it was, we'd likely still be painfully waiting for a deal to get done (which in retrospect, may have pushed Andersson back to Boston).
