IMO responsible clubs do this already. Some of you have picked on it as being cap circumvention.

So your solution is to strongarm a player into going under the knife? Absolutely ridiculous. Especially considering this type of surgery is no guarantee that he'll be a better hockey player - it carries risk that he won't be able to play at all. It's a big decision, and if my employer tried to strong-arm me into getting surgery, I'd be ####ing pissed. It's his choice - he was medically cleared to play.
