I’ve read this sentiment from a few different people and I get the “this young man needs to learn a lesson!” reason why people post stuff like this but I also think it’s extremely naive to suggest he’s never been chirped in junior or college hockey. Hockey is hockey. I would bet my life he’s been chirped before and doesn’t fly off the handle every time he is. That would have revealed itself long ago.
Good logic suggests this was something different so people should at least give him the respect of accepting we don’t know.
And besides, if you really think a guy who breaks your jaw and gives you a concussion for chirping him is the one who is going to be eaten alive you’ve got a surprise waiting for you. That’s a 5 minute major in the NHL, and for the other guy that’s however many weeks or months of LTIR.
