Should McKenna have just walked away? Yes, probably
Is it ever smart to get in a bar fight? No, to many incidents end up escalating and end up with somebody seriously hurt and never the same. I've seen it first hand with friends in university.
Do I blame McKenna for doing it at all if his mom was pushed and verbally abused? Not even for a second.
It's easy to blame him with the benefit of hindsight and a level head, much harder to make that decision in the moment.
