Bar fights are stupid, fighting in general is stupid, I don't mind physical competition, BJJ, boxing etc, I find that enjoyable but an actual fight is just dumb. He's a dumb immature teenager. With all that said... if someone was coming up to my mother, calling her a whore, berating her, I might react as well. There are very few things and get me riled up but I would never allow my mom to face that scurrility. I wouldn't haul off and slug them but things probably wouldn't be polite. The obvious virtue signalling is a little nauseating but from a purely emotional point of view.. I get it. My mom is a god damn saint though, so the thought of someone verbally abusing her like that would make turning the other cheek difficult
This is red flag behaviour but depending on the story I wouldn't write off the kid. You don't want to see this kind of crap though.
