I am waiting for more information before passing judgement. I suspect they are throwing the book at him for now and will see what sticks. Which is pretty normal I think.

Yes, they've made 4 charges that are for the same thing ranging severity of penalty. I predict a misdemeanor assault guilty plea. Or less.
Absent an injury there might not have been a charge at all though.
