Kids can be brutal when you're a high profile person. You just can't take the bait. Part of the gig is having a thick enough hide to handle it.
Many would be frothing at the mouth to get you on the hook for something like this and land you in hot water as well as get a settlement out of it.
It's probably premature to play judge, jury and executioner here, and the court will ultimately decide. But sounds like the kid chirped something awful and McKenna snapped and gave him what he had coming (with alcohol probably factoring into that tipping point)
Like Pepsi said, we cheer guys on to mangle faces over much less within the context of a game where there are no legal consequences. This is basically that just in an unofficial setting where unfortunately for those who want to defend their mother's honor, the law does apply.
What's important from a drafting perspective (assuming he isn't cooked legally) is that this isn't a sign of a kid who is a loose cannon and doesn't have remorse for acting out. He will need to show some remorse for how he handled himself (not necessarily because the guy didn't deserve it).
Again, just part of the gig.
From what clips I've seen of Gavin, he does come off a bit.. robotic. Hopefully he gets it, because it would suck to have a career for someone so talented end before it begins.
