B. Why is it a dumb place to go? The Kings are consistently in the playoffs, have a solid team that could be great with a true offensive force like Panarin added.
This makes LA a very serious threat down the stretch this year, and obviously is attractive in terms of climate and lifestyle for the player. If they end up re-signing him or going on a deep playoff run it's a win for LA for sure and isn't the worst for the Rangers in getting a young, league ready player with a lot of upside next season.

A. Panarin should be worth more than a 26OA that was a huge non factor in the World Juniors. I'd have expected a first plus Greentree.
B. The Kings are on a downward spiral, their prospects have not panned out, they are losing Kopitar and Doughty isn't far behind. Who is going to be his centre? Byfield? Laferriere? It's a dumb place to go for success. Not if he wants to make a big salary and not get pressured I suppose. And I suppose the opportunities for his wife are not far off of NYC.
EDIT: Just saw this is for just a 2 year contract? Dear me.
