Thats almost exactly what it is. They take a huge cut of your refund for 'convenience.'

I get that 'Adulting' is hard, but come on...its Taxes. Its not like they spring it on you at random moments, everyone with a job, career, education, etc. knows its coming and when. You can plan and prepare for it.
"But I need my Tax Refund RIGHT NOW!!"
Its not a Bank Loan. You should not be earmarking your Tax Refund to float your bills for a couple months.
Some people....actually a lot more than you'd think, count on their Tax Refund to pay their Property Taxes, but those are both things you can plan for.
