This is really just so Kirkland can go to the Wranglers during the Olympic break. There's no reason to look for any deeper meaning to it.
If Beecher is getting closer to returning, I assume they could send him to the Wranglers on a conditioning stint during the break.
I expect we'll see a flood of trades announced once the roster freeze ends, so there's a good chance there will be room on the roster for both Kirkland and Beecher once play resumes.
