If so, IIRC, in the past, once a CHL player's team is eliminated, they can join the AHL. At this point, looks like Saginaw will not make the playoffs.
If that happens, can ZP play in the AHL?
If so, would there be a restriction on availability for playoffs?

After the trade deadline, a player can only be sent from the NHL to the AHL if he was recalled from the AHL after the trade deadline.
Players who are in junior or college can be assigned directly to the AHL after their seasons end, but not if they play in the NHL first. Parekh could only go to the AHL if he was coming from the OHL, which would require the Flames to send him back to junior.
I'm not sure if that's even still allowed at this point in the season. Back in 2015, Bennett was sent back to Kingston on February 21. Unless the rules have changed since then, it would appear Parekh could still be sent back.
Right now, Saginaw is 8th in their Conference, with a 9 point lead on 9th place, so they will likely make the playoffs (top 8 in the Conference make the playoffs). Even if they get swept in the first round, their season won't likely end until the end of March or very early in April.
