Fyp. A day trip from Florence that we took through Tuscany ended there. Waste of time, which was an 75 minute stop until the tour went home.
10 min walk from parking. Walk the gauntlet of so called Italian leather goods sold by non Italian and past the McDonalds. Take the requisite cliched picture from a distance. Go take look closer at the engineering mistake if you want. Figure out what to do in the uninspiring tourist area for another 55 minutes until time to go back to the bus.
Only regret we had of our trip to Italy. Another hour or more in a Tuscan town like Siena instead would have been a lot more authentic and enjoyable than the side trip to a true tourist trap if we had the choice.
