I think times have changed a little since then with hockey in general demographically though. I remember going over to Vancouver a few times as a kid to see some Flames vs Canucks games and I'm pretty sure I saw a fight breakout in the stands every time, and I also remember anyone I knew who went to a game around approximately 2004-2012 talking about fights in the nosebleeds, whether it be Flames fan vs Canucks fan, Edmonton fan vs Canucks fan, Canucks fan vs Canucks fan...... But I've found going to games like post 2015ish the fan experience is a lot more chill and family friendly everywhere I've seen a game (mostly Vancouver and Calgary since then).

Basically less angry, stupid drunk guys in the crowd. I imagine the rising cost of experiencing a hockey game makes people realize you should put an effort into making the evening a nice experience coupled with the fact it prices out some of the knuckle draggers. Or maybe they're still there, but can't get as dangerously plastered due to the cost of stadium beers.
I'd agree, though the notable exception in current days would be trash oilers fans fighting each other during their playoff runs.
