Again, after one season there would be all the excuses why he stepped back as a player and he wouldn’t have any issue in getting suitors. If he stinks 2 years in a row maybe he doesn’t get that money.

I don't know. When it comes to MLB doling out money, we've seen a few years now GMs are willing to pay for proven commodities, but the second someone doesn't have a good season, there's a major reluctance to give out the big contract and those guys have to settle for a "show me" type deal for a year. I really don't think he'll opt out. Too much uncertainty.
