It's close to Vancouver. I guess that's a pro.
Seriously, as someone who grew up in Calgary, it never came off as a good tourist city to me. There really isnt that much unique culture compared to other options, and frankly is a city that doesnt care too much about the way it looks. You have to be there a while to appreciate Calgary for the good bids..the people, the amazing light, a good backyard bbq etc.
If you do want to come to this region though, do a drive from Vancouver to Calgary and visit all the amazing natural sights in beetween. Those are truly world-class destinations.
