A decent trade for a rental, the fact that there is a good chance that Vegas signs him to a new contract doesn't change that. Whitecloud is worth at least a 2nd so it's a 1st and basically two 2nds and a longshot prospect. I think if you ask people if that was the rental deal for Andersson before the start of this season most people would be very happy about it. I don't think they trade Whitecloud this season but they should be able to turn him into good value later on.
The people upset with Andesson for not accepting a long term deal with Boston or any other team in order to do the Flames a "solid" need to grow up. If I was Raz I am not signing a long term deal with anyone that is the not my first choice unless it's an overpayment. Obviously the Bruins weren't not willing to do that.
