If when driving at night and your eyes tend dry out or get sore try using the windshield shade to redirect the air from your defrost that's blowing into your eyes. Also, the white line on the side of the road is called the fog line. Stare at it and follow it when driving at night rather than the head lights coming at you from the on coming traffic.

When hauling a heavy load in the mountains go down the hill in the same gear you needed to climb it or one lower. You shouldn't have to apply your foot brakes more often then once every 13 seconds. If you have an engine brake you shouldn't be needing your foot brakes at all to control descent.
