At this point I don't think there's a realistic possibility that midterms are canceled or postponed, but I do think there's a likelihood that the tactic of deploying thugs to areas inclined to vote Democratic increases over the course of the months leading up to those midterms, including the potential use of the insurrection act, to keep as many people from voting as possible - while at the same time intimidating people going to the polls.
Would anyone be surprised if ICE sent agents to every polling station demanding that everyone standing in line waiting to vote produce documents proving they're an American citizen before they can go in and vote? They can even justify it (to their base) with the usual concerns about voter fraud - after all, we don't want illegal immigrants voting, do we?
That, IMO, is the plan to hang on to power this year. Next year it'll be, wherever Democrats did unseat republicans, to return to allegations of voter fraud and refusing to seat elected officials as they did with Adelita Grijalva.
