[QUOTE=Wolven;9623955]Pretty impressive that Kuznetsov is holding down 20 minutes per game. That's not typical for a rookie and good for him. I am so glad that he was able to sneak through waivers without getting snagged and then finally got his chance and immediately established himself.=QUOTE
I really wish that the Flames had put both RS RD Daniil Miromanov and LS LS LD Jake Bean on waivers to start the season which would have only cost Calgary a mere $750k in Cap Space to bury them both in the AHL. Calgary would still have both 25-year-old LS RD/LD Iyla Solovyov and 23-year-old LS LD/RD Yan Kusnetsov. They are essentially the same player. 6'3", 208 lbs. vs 6'4", 209 lbs. Solovyov is 2 years older and has a slightly higher offensive upside. Kuznetsov is younger and a little more physical. Bean is injured and will be a UFA at the end of this season and is unlikely to be re-signed. Miromanov is a UFA at season's end and has already cleared waivers down to the AHL costing the Flames only $100k in Cap Space. He also is unlikely to be re-signed.
Looking back, it was bad asset management by the Flames to not keep Solovyov.
