Mac's are great little units, but I've had various issues with them in the past. Mostly it was due to software not being as flexible as it's PC cousins, or the design of the peripherals. Seriously, add a second mouse button to the iBook/MacBook!
But, if I were to replace my Toshiba laptop, I'd likely pick up a new MacBook. Desktop, not gonna even look at it. I like building my own computers.
Sidenote... Vista has recently gotten alot more stable. The hardware manufacturers finally got their heads out of their bottoms and released proper drivers, which fixed every issue I had with the new OS. Turn of the UAC crap and it's still much more secure then any version of Windows before it (except Windows 2.0, perhaps).
