Horvat was a 27 year old UFA who was scoring at an unsustainable rate on a team not making the playoffs. Trading him wasn't a bad move. The problem is that the Canucks had no defense and without Hronek that defense is easily the worst in the NHL.
The bigger problem was trading a first for Marcus Pettersson when the team wasn't anywhere near being a playoff team let alone a contender.
But yes they are dumb..
