This exercise sure shows how elusive the all important elite #1 C remains for this team, something they have yet to have in the 21st century. Lots can change in two years with respect to someone becoming available via trade as infrequent as that happens, or maybe they see Schmaltz or Hischier as having another level via UFA acquisition. Until then, just gotta keep adding bullets to the draft capital chamber.
I've always been a BPA guy but if the lottery balls fall in the Flames' favour come June 2027 you probably have to go Joseph if things are close enough. And who knows: that's a long time away and maybe Joseph is consensus first-overall by then. But wouldn't it just be the Flames' luck to miss out on him somehow too?
