That is fair, but the data is available for you to game it out.
2025-26: Markstrom, Kadri?, Coleman?
2026-27: Kadri?, Coleman?, Hanley?
2027-28: Kadri?, Farabee?, _______
2028-29: Kadri?, _______, _______
Retaining on Kadri probably gives you bigger value back than any smaller assets that you try to retain on in the next 4 seasons. Also, the dead cap will help the team stay above the floor while playing young, cheap players.
Of course, if the team trading for Kadri does not want to pay an appropriate price for 4 retention slots then they can have him at $7M per year. I do think a number of GMs would jump at the chance to have Kadri for $3.5M because that is an amazing price for a #2C and a good price for a #3C... but Conroy's price for that should be in the blue chip to A+ prospect realm.
